These kits have been very popular in the local shops since felting has become popular with quilters and hand-crafters.  Also, being the parent of a 4 year old, I know that felting is an easy, safe craft to do with pre-schoolers.  It's amazing how many beads you can felt with a quarter ounce of wool!  These kits come with instructions to felt beads/buttons with a nylon in the washing machine, along with a nylon stocking so that you can start right away!  This hat is just one way that I like to use these beads.
